Your kids are crazy

Fair housing.

It's not sexy, but important.

You try not to discriminate in your rental business (if so, better lawyer up).

But fair housing rules aren't always clear.

Take kids, for example.

You're fine with *good* kids.

But you don't want a pack of little mustangs running wild and free through your house.

So you limit the number of kids that can stay.

And you up the security deposit knowing it won't look the same after Dennis the Menace moves out.

But both are discrimination (family status is a protected class). 

The Illinois Department of Human Rights will take you down with stunts like this.

When it comes to fair housing, better know your stuff (or hire folks that do).
