Just say 'no thanks'
Jan 24, 2025Don't be nice.
Not when it comes to being a landlord reference.
Sure, the tenant seems lovely.
Paid rent on time.
Mowed the lawn.
Maybe even left you a thank-you note (wild, right?).
But here's the deal:
One kind word could land you in a world of hurt.
Say you tell their new landlord they're a 'dream tenant.'
A week later, they're hosting a raging house party.
Guess who's getting dragged into court for that glowing review?
I'll take 'landlord' for $500, Alex.
Seriously, skip the calls and emails about Tenant performance.
Don't act as a landlord reference.
It will save you headaches.
And maybe a trip to the courthouse.

A landlord just got sued because they couldn’t keep mum. Don’t let a kind word cost you cash — zip it and stay lawsuit-free. #NotLegalAdvice
